International Workshop “Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development”
The workshop was attended by Mr. Bui Cach Tuyen – Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment; representatives of state environmental management agencies; international organisations including the World Bank (WB), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Korea Environment Corporation (KECO), the Czech Development Agency, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic and the State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic; environmental education and communication organisations; and enterprises in environmental protection and renewable energy production from Viet Nam and the Czech Republic. Dr. Mai Ngoc Tam – Deputy Director of the Vietnam Institute for Building Materials – attended and presented a report at the workshop.
More than 20 reports were presented at the workshop, covering the following main topics:
– Environmental pollution management and current financial support mechanisms in Viet Nam;
– Use of renewable energy, including energy from waste recycling (energy saving, biomass, pyrolysis, biogas);
– Environmental pollution treatment technologies and technology transfer;
– Sustainable development (including environmental education and communication and raising public awareness);
– International cooperation in environmental protection.
On behalf of the Vietnam Institute for Building Materials, Dr. Mai Ngoc Tam presented the report “Research and development of waste-to-energy treatment technologies in Viet Nam”. The report attracted the interest of the whole conference, which highly appreciated the Institute’s potential in researching technologies for recycling and recovering energy from waste.
