Dr. Luu Thi Hong – Deputy Director of VIBM, delivering the opening speech

In her opening speech, Dr. Luu Thi Hong affirmed that Net Zero is an inevitable trend for all countries and production sectors, including construction. At COP26, Viet Nam set the goal of reducing net CO2 emissions to zero by 2050. To achieve this, organisations and enterprises in the construction sector need strategies to improve products, upgrade technology and transform production processes in order to increase productivity, reduce input costs, use alternative fuels and recycled materials in place of natural raw materials and fuels, and apply new technologies that shorten construction time and reduce direct labour, raw material and fuel costs. As a national scientific research institute serving state management and policy-making in the field of building materials, VIBM is always ready to support organisations and enterprises through trade promotion, information exchange, consultancy, technology transfer, testing and inspection, and the assessment and certification of green building material production and products.

At the workshop, Dr. Le Van Quang introduced SVIBM and its key activities in scientific research, technology transfer, testing and inspection, and quality assessment and certification of building materials. Recently, SVIBM has actively connected with enterprises in southern Viet Nam and carried out many cooperative activities. SVIBM places particular emphasis on assessing and certifying green building material production and products, and on advising enterprises on improving processes and production technologies towards Net Zero.

Speakers also presented on building smart industrial parks, smart grids in industrial parks and carbon emission-reduction solutions. The presentations attracted the interest of participants and the media and prompted many questions and discussions on recommendations and solutions for building smart industrial parks.

At the close of the workshop, the Organising Committee presented certificates of appreciation to the agencies, organisations and enterprises that accompanied the event, contributing to its success and spreading connections within the scientific and business communities towards the Net Zero goal. This was the first time SVIBM had co-organised a workshop with several clubs and enterprises. Besides the above objectives, the event aimed to create a forum for entrepreneurs and businesses to work together to overcome difficulties, actively seek markets, develop brands and products, form joint ventures and partnerships, and maintain stable business development.
