The workshop was attended by Mr. Nguyen Van Huynh (MSc.) – Deputy Director of VIBM, who chaired the workshop; Ms. Trinh Thi Cham (MSc.) – Deputy Head of the Science and Technology Department, VIBM; leading experts in climate change from Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering and Hanoi University of Science and Technology; experts in building materials from the Vietnam Building Materials Association, Vietnam Building Ceramics Association, Vietnam National Cement Association, Vietnam Concrete Association, the Vietnam Institute for Building Science and Technology (IBST) and VIBM. The workshop also attracted strong interest from building material manufacturers such as Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation, Viglacera Corporation, Viglacera Tien Son, Viglacera Thang Long, Viglacera Hanoi, Viglacera Autoclaved Aerated Concrete, Viglacera Packaging and Brake Lining JSC, and NIRAS (RCEE-NIRAS)…

At the workshop, Ms. Cao Thi Tu Mai (MSc.), on behalf of the project team, presented the results in three papers: (1) Overview of international experience and the need to develop country-specific emission factors for building materials production (cement, ceramic tiles, construction glass); (2) Methodology, input data and results of developing country-specific greenhouse gas emission factors for building materials production (cement, ceramic tiles, construction glass); (3) Draft document for publishing and guidelines for using country-specific greenhouse gas emission factors for building materials production (cement, ceramic tiles, construction glass).

The workshop held lively discussions on the content and results achieved by the project team. The results were highly appreciated for their scientific and practical value and their great significance for the national goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions towards Net Zero by 2050, as committed by the Government.

Closing the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Van Huynh thanked the experts and delegates for their attendance and professional contributions, and requested the project team to incorporate the comments and finalise the results to ensure the required quality and schedule.
